What is Hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding involves creating a mixture of water, seeds, wood fiber mulch, fertilizer, and bonding agents in a Hydroseeder tank to create a thick slurry, then spraying it onto prepared soil. This process ensures even coverage, and promotes fast germination. It’s perfect for large or small areas, erosion control, and hard-to-seed areas, providing quicker and more consistent results than traditional seeding with minimal lawn compaction.
Soil Preparation
Health
Hydroseeding creates an ideal microenvironment for germination. The slurry materials stimulate strong, deep root development where soil moisture is highest.
Erosion Control
The hydroseeding slurry binds with surface soil to hold moisture and protect against erosion from wind, rain, sun, and pests.
Hydroseed Application
Coverage
Hydroseeding forms a thick, uniform lawn with interlocking fibers that eliminate seams (as with sod) and prevent the patchy results of hand seeding.
Speed
While not instant like sod, hydroseeding offers a balance of cost, quality, coverage, and erosion control. It’s faster and easier to install than sod without requiring heavy labor.
Versatility
Hydroseeding is used in residential and commercial landscapes, hillsides, restorations, golf courses, landfills, wildfire repair, mine reclamation, and parks.
Water New Lawn
Hydroseeding retains up to 10 times its weight in water, delivering fast, healthy germination and strong seed protection through its moisture-sealant properties. No other grass-growing method offers this level of water retention.
New Sprouts
Health (growth stage)
As sprouts emerge, the hydroseed mulch continues to support healthy root development by maintaining moisture and providing a stable, nutrient-rich surface.
Ready to mow
Safety
Hydroseeding is non-toxic and safe for pets, children, and the environment once the lawn has established enough to be mowed for the first time.
